Yorktown ISD: 2011-2012 Areas of Focus

The areas of focus are places where the District will concentrate its efforts in its quest to be an exemplary learning community.

Recognized School District

District and all campuses will be rated Recognized by TEA for 2012-13 based on 2012-13 STAAR data.

Classroom Expectations

Highly qualified teacher percentage will be 100%.

III

Post HS Education Preparation

For the high school, average SAT scores will increase, students taking AP tests will increase, number of students scoring 3 or more on AP tests will increase, increase in taking dual credit courses, and survey vocational needs of students for post high school.

AYP

Meet the standards of Adequate Yearly Progress at each campus level and the district level.

Communication

The following communications will continue in 2011-12 (1) Board letter twice a year, (2) Board Notes, (3) From the Superintendent’s Desk monthly article, and (4) Monthly principal letters to all parents, board members, and staff.

Facilities

The board will develop a prioritized list of facility needs and a plan to provide funding to address the needs.

Fiscal

The board will approve a budget with a surplus for the 2011-12 school year.

VIII

Exemplary School Board

The board will be an Honor Board (8 hours of Team of 8 Training) for the 2011-12 school year.
