Welcome to the 2011-2012 School Year. It gives me great pleasure to be a counselor at Y.E.S. This will be my 14th year as an educator (I taught 1st grade for 6 years and this is my 8th year in school counseling). I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies/Early Childhood Education and my Masters in Counseling from The University of Texas-San Antonio.
Your child has started an exciting learning adventure this school year at Yorktown Elementary School. Our goal is for every child to be successful academically and socially through a positive, nurturing environment. Throughout the year you will receive my Counselor’s Corner, Home & School Connection, and Firm, Fair & Consistent Newsletters, which will provide important information about helping your child have a successful year.
Since children experience a variety of concerns at different developmental stages, Y.E.S. provides counseling services for all children in Pre-K – 5th grade. The purpose of this program is to assist the children in order for them to make maximum use of their educational experience. Children who participate in counseling are encouraged to go home and discuss their feelings and what they are learning with their parents.
We want all of our children to be happy and successful at Y.E.S. Please feel free to contact me at 564-2252 Ext. 405 if you have questions, concerns, or would like to set up an appointment to visit with me.
