PUMPKIN CONTEST

Yorktown Student Council sponsored a pumpkin decorating contest for the Junior High tutorial classes. The foyer display greets students and guests with grins and grimaces.  Judging took place Tuesday, October 25.  The result was: Coach Ortiz’s class won first place with their rocking D.J.  In second place was the Wicked Witch of the South prepared by Ms. Crockett’s class.  We even had good, old Santa Claus on a chimney top in third place created by Coach Serrano’s class.  Adding to the interesting line up was an Angry Bird designed by Mrs. Phillip’s class which won Most Creative.  Coach Mata’s class painted a beautiful flag on their Patriotic Pumpkin which won Most Unusual.  There’s football fever in town and Coach Hooper’s class won Most Spirited with their Football Player.  The player had a mean look, black helmet and carried a football along. The Scariest pumpkin was a Mummy designed by Ms. Bloebaum’s class.  The Funniest pumpkin was a Mickey Mouse Vampire made by Mrs. Audilet’s class. Mrs. Kaiser’s class designed a beautiful pink Princess and won Cutest award.
