Certification(s) Needed   

Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Valid Texas Ag Sciences teaching certificate
Demonstrated competency in agricultural science

YISD is looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, hard-working individual seeking an opportunity to be part of growing a great Ag program.  YISD is looking for someone willing, capable, and dedicated to growing the YHS Animal Science Program of Study.  Candidates should possess a strong work ethic, be self-motivated, goal driven, a team player, and passionate about the delivery of course content and FFA activities.  Teacher will have access to Ag truck and trailer.  207 day contract + benefits.  


  • Demonstrated competency in the academic subject area assigned
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to teach CCMR Certifications
  • Have a CDL with a Bus Driver Endorsement or willing to obtain one 


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Ag Certification Required
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned  
  • At least one year student teaching or approved internship
  • Experience is a plus but not mandatory

  • Facilitate participation in local, district, area & state FFA activities and competitions including encouraging students to pursue available scholarship opportunities
  • Comply with all district policies and administrative requirements
  • Expectation to be an excellent role model for students, to impact students, and build relationships through FFA activities
  • Maintain Ag facilities properly and teach students to do the same
  • Organize and be responsible for YISD show and all show projects
  • Possess knowledge of record books, degrees, applications 
  • Organize and manage fundraisers as assigned
  • Serve as advisor to local Future Farmers of American (FFA) chapter, including planning and conducting leadership, citizenship, cooperative, career development, and competitive activities for students at local, regional, and state level
  • Train multiple successful LDE, CDE and SDE teams
  • Engage, advise and supervise SAE projects of all types through home visits and at county and major stock shows
  • Possess the commitment, interest, and execution in developing student leaders through camps, conventions, chapter, and community activities
  • Expectations will require early mornings, late nights, weekends, and frequent travel  
  • Other duties as assigned
